And in this time of „rediscovery“ of Leonardo da Vinci, historic Nicol Barbatelli discover valuable thing. He found a portrait, during browsing of private family collection. He identified this art work as an unknown portrait of da Vinci. The historic thinks, that author of the picture is Leonardo da Vinci himself, because painting contains his signature, too.

Italian media and TV channel Discovery Channel annouced information about portrait as the first.

Circumstances about this discovery aren´t known till now, because the family wish to stay in anonymity.

It´s documented that da Vinci had visited this region, but he had never lived there for a long time.

An Italian expert and director of Museum of da Vinci, Alessandro Vessozi confirmed, the painting is from Renaissance and it´s original. In spite of that he didn´t say whether it´s self-portrait or not. It´s fact, that this portrait is similar to Leonardo´s portrait, which is situated in gallery Uffizi in Florence.

We know only one Leonardo´s self-portrait...till now...It´s was painted in 1512 and it´s situated in Turino.

Disco In The Snowy Train

DISCO IN THE SNOWY TRAIN

Try to imagine lot of people jostling to the train with ski and luggage in their hands. If you imagine this you will probably think about why they don´t travel by car or by plane. You are right because travelling by train is usually too lenghty and boring. We know faster and more comfortable means of transport. However if you ask these people why they are travelling by train they will answer you: “Because we are going to the moving disco.“

Snowy train starts in St Pancras not far away from London. Its next stop is Paris and it continues up to the Alps. The length of journey depends on weather. If the weather is favourable, journey takes 13 hours and 50 minutes. The price for one person is 227 pounds. The train always leaves in Friday evening and returns in a week.

Rubik´s 360

New game: Rubik´s 360

Hungarian profesor Erno Rubik, who is popular by his legendary Rubik´s cube invited new mind-bender called Rubik´s 360. This fascinating transparent ball was presented in Norimberg, Germany at international industry fair. This game was introduced by inventor himself. David Hedley Jones, president of company, which ownes rights for foreign sale, says:“Rubik´s 360 isn´t competitive for Rubik´s cube, only its supplement. It means, the market of Rubik´s brand is spreading more," he notes.

The first ball test did Dan Harris, British master in solving Rubik´s cube. First solving lasted him two days, but then only few hours and third experience lasted only few minutes!

So here is explanation how to play the game:

The ball is consists of three transparent plastic spheres and six small balls, each a different colour, which are inside. To complete the game player must to get small balls from the inner sphere to matching slots on the outer sphere. He does it by shaking them through a middle sphere that has only two holes. Aim of the game is to get all balls to correct slot.

Rubik´s cube evoked „madness“ all over the world mainly between teenagers three decades ago. Profesor believes, that Rubik´s 360 will have similar success.

Original rubik cube facts:

1. It has 43 252 003 274 489 856 000 possible combinations, but only one solution.

2. More than 350 000 000 cubes have been sold

3. The slowest Cube solver is Graham Parker, 45 years old, from Portchester, Hampshire.

70s or morning after hangover

Every century, every period of time has own features. When people judge the country’s recent history, they will notice an arc in popular culture from the 1950s to the end of the 1970s. While 50s are considered to be the time where youth culture developed and the 1960s are viewed as the time where this nascent culture flexed its muscle, 70s was a much more complicated time. If 60s were a party, 70s can be considered the morning after hangover.

A messy period that saw a number of different fashion styles. The 60s broke down the barriers, the 70s vent nuts. Beads for belts, long hair for everyone, afros for blacks, long sideburns for wanabe hippies, sandals platform shoes ( with large, thick heels ), frilly collars, leather, paisley shirts.

In the early part of the decade, 70s fashion was a continuation of the popular hippy look of 60s fashion. However, this early 70s fashion made a few tweaks in the popular hippie fashion. Moving away from the baggy jeans look, early 70s fashion popularized hip hugging jeans that still retained bell-bottoms. The spacier elements of 60s hippy fashion would become less popular, although the hippy look retained its early style and its fascination with exotic fashion items such as clothes made from Indian fabrics.

However, on the higher end of early 70s fashion was the development of romantic fashions that proved to be extremely popular. These new designs created by designers like Yves St Laurent, Ossie Clark, and Zandra Rhodes who helped change 70s fashion. As the 1970s continued, people began to dress in more flashier styles that showed off their bodies. The mini skirt would shorten to the midi-skirt. On the other spectrum, platform shoes became particularly popular. This new emphasis on design and hedonism. So these two facts take root in the emergence of disco fashion in the late 70s.

Disco fashion has been popularized in movies such as the John Travolta hit, Saturday Night Fever. Although much of disco fashion and later 70s fashion are considered tacky, they are slowly returning to popularity as people view these styles as being more fun than embarrassing. Disco was memobable for its hot pants look and Spandex tops. Shiny clinging Lycra stretch disco pants in hot strident shiny colours with stretch sequin bandeau tops were often adaptations of professional modern dance wear. Gold lame, leopard skin and stretch halter jumpsuits and white clothes that glowed in Ultra Violet lights capture the 70s Disco fashion perfectly.

The punk fashion style developed as an angry response to the carefree attitude of disco fashion. Punk fashion was not overly wide spread during the 1970s. However, in future decades, punk fashion would be extremely influential and its influences can be seen in emo fashion and current fashion.

This decade is remembered for its messiness and so i tis difficult to define 70s fashion. From its early hippy look to its later angry punk look, 70s fashion was a time of rapid development of new styles. An underrated era in terms of style, 70s fashion is being appreciated more and more with each passing year!

BUDDHISM

What is buddhism?

The best explanation of the Buddha's teachings comes from the Buddha himself. In Sanskrit the teachings are called the Dharma and in Tibetan Chö. Both mean „the way things are“. So Buddhism can be seen as a set of tools that enable us to see things as they really ARE here and now. Buddhism has no dogmas. Aim of Buddha´s teaching is a full development and freedom of body, speech and mind.

Who was Buddha?

Buddha was born in India about 2560 years ago into the royal family. He had known only pleasure until the age of twenty-nine. Leaving his palace for the first time, his world was turned upside down. He saw a very sick person, somebody old and someone who had died during three days. Upon his recognition of the inevitability of old age, sickness, death and the caducity of everything, he became deeply troubled. The next morning, he passed a Yogi in deep meditation and their minds met. Inspired by this, the prince then left his home and family and wandered the country in search of teachings that could overcome death and suffering. At the age of 35, after six years of deep meditation, at the place called “Bódhgaja”, he realized the true nature of mind and was enlightened. For the next 45 years the Buddha taught the methods to reach the goal of enlightenment.

Basic points in Buddhism

There are four basic ideas that give a lasting meaning to our life:

1. All people want happiness and want to avoid suffering. Even an ant will crawl very far to avoid killing, and human does everything to feel good. So, meeting with teachings that bring lasting happiness is very important.

2. Everything is temporal. Whatever was born, will die, whatever came together and whatever appeared will disappear. Our time is limited. It is certain that our lives will end, but we do not know when. So it means we have change a we must use it.

3. The world is a net of causes and effects and that our present actions, words and thoughts will become our future. Everything we do, say or think leaves impressions both inside ourselves and outside in the world. These impressions will later return to us.

4. Enlightenment is highest joy. There is nothing more fulfilling and total than this state of oneness with all things, all times, all beings, and all directions.

It´s up to you

4th February 2009 in book shop Pantha Rhei in Polus, Bratislava will be presented Slovak edition of book written by buddhist teacher láma Ole Nydahl. This book is about love, relationships and it gives advices for a happy life. If you want to know more about Buddhism I recommend to go there or buy this book;)

REAL, UNREAL MAN

I like taking a walk down the street. The centre of the city is full of intersecting alleyways. There are alwyas a lot of peple. I walk, listen to music from my mp3, and observe their. Last time I noticed: many people are eager for change, want to be visible. I the most wondered at look of some boys.....

Nowadays metrosexuals come out.

The term „ metrosexual“ is neologism of the 2000s. Fisrt this term was used by journalist Mark Simpson in the UK Independant in 1994.
A metroseual is a man who spends a certain amount of time and money on his lifestyle, specifically his appearance. Some attributes stereotypically are attributed to gay man but metrosexual is heterosexual. We can say that a metrosexual man is hetersexual man who have adopted the dress and appearance of gay man.
For decades, the character of masculinity was restrainted and made simpler. Back then it was the man´s job to earn money, and the woman´s job to spend it. For the most part of men was shopping absolutly nesessary. Appropriate of their grooming was made up of taking a shower, combing their hair, brushing their teeth and possibily shoving. These activities took normal interval of time. Now everythink is changing. For example metrosexual efect reachs India, too. The growing attention to male grooming in India mirrors a trend in North America and Europe that was pioneered by David Beckham, the English soccer player. From 2000 to 2005, worldwide spending on personal care products for men rose 13 percent to $29.7 billion. One-in-two men also now preder yoga or pilates exercises to football and cricket at the weekend.
Metrosexual in the past?
In fact, metrosexual is not a new concept at all. Many generations ago, a large subset of male society was perfect dressed. These men were rich, had both the additional income.
The idea of the male as self-sacrificing benefactor is in reality comparatively new, at least among the middle and upper classes of society. Only with the drop in large estates that were full of servants, and the ensuing lack of free time, did the rules concerning etiquette, proper dress, and cultural pursuits start to relax. Society changed in a dramatic way during the of World War II that contributed to the counter-culture revolution of the 1960s era.
Metrosexual now!
"The typical metrosexual is a young man with money to spend, living in or within easy reach of a metropolis — because that's where all the best shops, clubs, gyms and hairdressers are. He might be officially gay, straight or bisexual, but this is utterly immaterial because he has clearly taken himself as his own love object and pleasure as his sexual preference. Particular professions, such as modeling, waiting tables, media, pop music and, nowadays, sports, seem to attract them but, truth be told, like male vanity products and herpes, they're pretty much everywhere." —Mark Simpson, "Meet the Metrosexual," Salon.com, July 22, 2002

Daily routine of to today men is changing. In the beauty salon we can meet man who enjoy manicure, pedicure, facial. They regular see their stylist socially. But all these facts cause that many single women are crying out that it’s almost impossible to find a real man.

The Place Close To My Heart

THE PLACE CLOSE TO MY HEART

Have you ever been to Slovakia? This country is small, but very beautiful. It has a big potential to improve its tourism. Slovakia is not a large country, but it offers different places and attractions to enjoy and relax. This attests a fact that tourism participates on GDP more and more every year.
Probably the most identifiable Slovakia’s landmark, The High Tatras are an area with a natural beauty that makes it one of the most favourite recreation areas not only in Slovakia but in all of Europe. The High Tatras environment also provides a special variety of sports and recreation facilities during the whole year. In winter the high hills become centers of winter sports. People from all over the world come here to show their qualities in skiing, sledging, snowboarding or cross-countrying. You can choose from a lots of ski resorts including hotels and restaurants with good services. Spending summer here is very popular, too, because of hiking, enjoying fresh air and natural beauties, such as mountain lakes called Štrbské pleso, Skalnaté pleso or Zelené pleso.
Not far away from The High Tatras lies the town Poprad, in which the biggest recreational centre of Slovakia called AquaCity Poprad is situated. Uniqueness of this place is based on using natural energy sources which provide heat and energy for hotels, aqua park, restaurants, bars and fitness centres in this area. Using ecological energy saves money and environment. You can visit swimming pools, whirling pools, vital world or you can have a massage. It is an excellent choice for families or couples.
Slovakia is rich in dams. One from them is called Domaša. It is situated in the mountains surrounding The Low Beskids, northwards from the town Vranov nad Topľou (which is my hometown) , in Eastern Slovakia. Lots of people have recreational cottages here. This is a good place to relax and enjoy the summer.
If you are a culture lover, Slovakia has possibilities for you, too. For example The Spis Castle, which is one of the largest medieval castles in the Central Europe. In 1993 the Spis castle together with the surroundings (Spisske Podhradie, Spisska Kapitula, the church in Žehra) was enlisted into UNESCO World Heritage List. Another well-known castle is The Bratislava Castle situated in the capital of Slovakia. Its historical construction dominates the city. It has been a place of many historical events. Today the castle houses some collections of the Slovak National Museum, and the State Room of the Slovak National Council. Slovakia has also two big cathedrals – St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Košice and St. Martin Cathedral in Bratislava.
A modern type of tourism is Agro Tourism. It is when a native person or local of the area offers tours to their Agriculture Farm to let the people watch them growing, harvesting and processing locally grown food or any other products the people would not see in their home country. Slovakia is one of the countries which have big potential to improve this type of modern tourism, because high per cent of population lives in the countryside and a part of them have cows, hens, goats, pigs or own fields. People from large cities like this, because here they can find silence and rest.
I hope my tips help you choose at least one of these places. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Delicious chocolate, brain food

Delicious chocolate, brain food

Are you chocoholic? Don not worry, that is good thing.

I am a chocolate friend. I need to eat chocolate pretty much every day. I am full of beens, it give me energy, make me more pozitive thinking.

Where did it start?

The tasty secret of the cacao tree was discovered 2,000 years ago in the tropical rainforests of the Americas. The pods of this tree contain seeds that can be processed into chocolate. The story of how chocolate grew from a local Mesoamerican beverage into a global sweet encompasses many cultures and continents, including our contry, cuisine, tastes....

The first people known to have made chocolate were the ancient cultures of Mexico and Central America. These people, including the Maya and Aztec, mixed ground cacao with various seasonings to make a spicy, frothy drink. Ancient Mexicans believed that Tonacatecutli, the goddess of food, and Calchiuhtlucue, the goddess of water, were guardian goddesses of cocoa. Each year they performed human sacrifices for the goddesses, giving the victim cocoa at his last meal.......This is short history of our favourite sweet but what about

nowadays? Chocolate may be one of the most functional foods out there.

Berries, tea, garlic and wine are all well-known sources of antioxidants. It is unbelieve but cocoa beans top them all. Chocolate turns out to be a good source of antioxidants. A steady level of antioxidants - including vitamins C and E and beta carotene - is linked to strong memories, according to several studies. Hot chocolate is the best source of antioxidant punch without the paunch that cocoa butter could bring. But it's important to make the hot chocolate from scratch, with pure cocoa powder, milk and sugar. Homemade hot chocolate has five times as many antioxidants as a store-bought mix.

Production, creation?

Turning cacao seeds into chocolate requires time, effort, and artistry. It’s a fascinating process that takes you from tropical rainforests to gleaming factories. First, farmers grow cacao, and then they harvest, ferment, and dry it by hand. Next, traders and import/export houses sell the seeds on the coffee, sugar, and cocoa exchange to companies that process the seeds into various chocolate products, various decoration. A lot of chocolate creations are hand made but these activities take much time. We can see everywhere unrealy beautiful confection, candy, sweetmeat.

Everyone loves chocolate—kids and adults alike. No matter what your age, you’ll enjoy tasting your favorite flavour. You need keep habit to eat a little bit of chocolate every day."

Travel

Travel

For most people travelling is a great hobby, maybe for you too. This is the reason why I chose this topic for my articles. People are travelling all the time - for relax, pleasure or for business. Some of us like to travel short distances and others like remote places ???. However, we all share one point. This point is hidden in question which each of us has to answer before they start their travel. This question is: ´How do I get there?´.
We can travel by land, by air or by sea. Travelling by land includes going on foot, riding a bike or a motorcycle, going by bus or by car, travelling by coach. Each of these possibilities is the best choice for a different aim of travelling. Every alternative has various advantages and disadvantages.
Going on foot (or just walking for short) is the cheapest way of travelling. If you choose this alternative, you will probably save money and improve your physical condition. However, walking is suitable only for short distances. If you want to travel far away, you should choose another means of travelling - bus, car or train. Buses are faster than walking and they are quite comfortable. They also offer beautiful view. Lots of tourists like coaches. They like services provided by them, for example they offer some drinks, listening to music or watching a video.
The most common way of travelling is going by car. These days almost all the people (adults) have cars, because they give them freedom – they can go wherever and whenever they want. During your journey by car you go by modern petrol stations, motorests and motels, which offer you lots of services if you feel tired or if you are hungry (or if your car is hungryJ).
Travelling by train used to be popular in the past, but nowadays it is developing fast again. Trains introduce connection of speed, comfort and good services. You can walk in the train if you want or you can visit restauration situated in the train too. If you travel at night, you can sleep in a sleeper. Train is a good choice for long distances because of its speed and not high payments.
Have you ever travelled by boat? As far as I can remember, I have not, but in some countries this way of travelling is quite popular, especially in countries which have strong rivers or are situated near a sea or ocean. It offers lots of experience and nice view, but it is not very fast. People travelling short distances like to take a ferry.
Definitely the fastest way of travelling is going by plane. It is the best choice for long distances. You save your time, but it is the most expensive alternative, too. If you want to fly, you need to book a seat. People usually book their seats long before they want to fly, because booking is cheaper this way. At the airport you always have to go through passport and security controls - they check you and your luggage because they want to make sure that you are not a terrorist or a dangerous passenger.
Lots of people have to travel every day, because they have to commute to work or school. Frequent traffic jams, delayed and overcrowded buses or trams can make people hate travelling. However, I think there is a difference between everyday commuting to work and travelling on holidays.
